It is as the original philosophers described it,
that all things are defined by their motion.
So it was on the 12th day of the month I lay motionless in bed,
aware of my being, in the moments after the mind attaches back to the body.
I asked myself what I should do today, from the list of the many chores and tasks available.
What was next?
I felt the dread come upon me. Who cares?
For if a man has an ailment of the body, he is unable to move? What causes his movement in the physical world but his body? The energy inside him moves him.
But what if he does not desire to move. Where then does desire come from?
You see the nature of desire itself is spiritual. For what is desire? You could argue desire is simply a function of evolution. The ‘desires’ desirable for survival, are what desires are. A trait chosen by the ‘ultimate desire’ of the universe. Or simply, what remains is desire. Therefore it is desirable!
But desire is a concept. And where does that concept exist - but not in the physical, an ephemeral non-physical spiritual realm.
Sure all software exists in written code. Or in the electrical voltages of a memory bank somewhere. But the concepts and shapes that they outline?
Or the concept of a Square. Sure you can draw a square. But the shape of a square. Its definition, exists in an entirely different realm.
So if the physical body ‘awakening’ moves the body. And is its ultimate cause of movement. If the emotions then that ‘desire’ to move in the first place are out of line. Where then should we look to fix them? Where do those desires live, but in the spiritual?
So depression then is spiritual in concept. But physical in place.
